FEEST’s Sweet 16 Celebrates Youth Power and Impact
On November 16th, we gathered to honor 16 incredible years of youth-led organizing and community transformation at FEEST’s Sweet 16 celebration at the TAF Bethaday Community Learning Space. The energy in the room was palpable—sweet, loving, and full of joy. It was a truly multigenerational event, bringing together little ones not yet a year old, elders who’ve spent decades organizing for change, and everyone in between. The atmosphere was celebratory and the connections we shared were unforgettable.
Moments to Remember
The day was filled with standout moments that reflected the heart and soul of FEEST. Youth-led activities and games brought laughter and energy, while a student-led panel discussion offered powerful insights into their experiences at FEEST and as community organizers. A highlight of the day was an inspiring speech from our Executive Director, Jaimée Marsh, who reflected on FEEST’s 16-year journey and shared wisdom from Scorpio, FEEST’s astrological sign, symbolizing transformation and resilience. Their words celebrated our growth and the work still ahead. Guests enjoyed a mouth watering spread of food from Chef Mulu of Phresh Eats and indulged in a delicious cake from Cakes of Paradise, perfectly fitting for our Sweet 16.
The event was co-emceed by FEEST Student Organizer, Siham, and staff member, Devan, whose warmth and enthusiasm set the tone for the celebration. Their leadership and connection to the audience made the event all the more special.
One special highlight was the Sweet 16 Art Contest, where students submitted t-shirt and sticker designs. The winning designs were printed, and attendees left with exclusive Sweet 16 stickers as keepsakes—symbols of the creativity and spirit of our youth.

Youth Leadership at the Center
This event was a true testament to the power of youth leadership. A team of incredible youth organizers—Angel, Alvaro, Kisaya, Lyna, Eva, Sundus, and Siham—worked together to plan every detail. From creating beautiful decorations and special balloon towers to choosing centerpieces, planning games, and preparing storytelling elements like the panel discussion, their creativity and teamwork were the heart of the event. The joy we all found in working together made the celebration even more meaningful.
Community Reflections
The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Guests shared how comforting it felt to gather in community, how much joy they found in the activities, and how inspired they were by the youth-led atmosphere. Many wished us continued success for the next 16 years and honored the journey that brought us here.
A Celebration of Legacy and Growth
This milestone was deeply meaningful for FEEST. Reflecting on our 16-year journey allowed us to honor our roots and our growth. Few organizations make it to this milestone, and it was a privilege to stand on the shoulders of the students and organizers who have built FEEST into what it is today.
Our mission of training working-class youth and youth of color to make systemic change was at the heart of this celebration. We saw how community organizing grows and blossoms into transformative outcomes, and we were reminded of the power and potential of youth leadership.
